Aahhh!....now thats what im talking about, real "soul/r&b", not that crap they call "r&b" nowadays....this stuff has "soul" from way down in the soul man! just about impossible to knock these old Stax artists as everything they did came from raw emotion, something thats seriously lacking in todays music by todays artists IMO you feel the joy, sorrow, heartache and pain of every word that spews forth from their mouths! i guess Mustang Sally is the best known of the tracks on here, but also included is the original versions of Knock On Wood and Time Is On My Side, both of which have very good cover versions, but hey, impossible to beat these soul originals! a couple of dud tracks on here also in "sunny" and "oh poo pah doo"(what kind of a dumbass name is that for a song anyway?) not many links available here, but the live ones are pretty cool! doesnt score as high as his three previous albums from me,but still a good score...not sure how it got a converted 2.7 from the allmusic pro's,way too high IMO, but thats music, different strokes and all that! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: sunny best track: mustang sally tracks: 1. mustang sally *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfuHgzu1Cjg live 2. new orleans ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_TrRnxHpbc audio 3. sunny * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMPXAlAzpxA audio 4. everybody needs somebody to love ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXBAs2zbMJo live 5. oh poo pah doo * 6. she aint gonna do right ** 7. knock on wood *** 8. time is on my side *** 9. up tight good woman ** 10. you left the water running ** 11.three time loser ** 12.nothing you can do ** 3s=3 2s=7 1s=2 rating: 2.1 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 02-07-2012 ^^ Tracks 1 and 4 on my best of set Have not heard any of the rest till now I'm blocked on New Orleans, same deal you have I guess Didn't care for Sunny prefer Bobby Hebb's version What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-07-2012 totally agree, Bobby Hebb's version is the best out there, from memory Bobby recorded his first but Wilson got his out first, thus the "original version" comment MH What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-07-2012 ![]() EMINEM "encore" cd,2004. after three absolute classic albums(slim shady, marshall mathers, eminem lp's) Marshall Mathers III dropped this one...very average IMO... sure, theres some good tracks on here,a couple of great ones, but also, six which are abysmal on the standards he set for himself since 1999. as usual, Em pokes fun at celebrities, makes light of serious situations, but also delves into politics(mosh) in which he jibes "W"...note to marshall:keep away from politics man and do what you do best!. several skits on here also which seems to be something he likes doing on every album, just seem irrelevant on here though for the most part, also, what the hell is all the belching for?, totally unnecessary IMO, unles of course youre a twelve year old kid, which i feel this one is aimed at! some good lyrics and catchy tunes, but also a lot of crap, not really a good place to start seeking out the discography of his works(but then again neither is his follow up album 'relapse'). best track here is "like toy soldiers" which samples Martika's song of the same name closely followed by an ode for his daughter Haillie "mockingbird". I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: crazy in love best track: like toy soldiers 1. evil deeds ** 2. never enough *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5iGJ4rs6A8 audio 3. yellow brick road ** 4. toy soldiers *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iym97Edrn-0 audio 5. mosh * 6. puke ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB7frhzZd8A audio 7. my 1st single ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-A79yqQFjI audio 8. rain man * 9. big weenie * 10.just lose it ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dcVOmEQzKA vevo video 11.ass like that ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJXOdWfviBY&feature=fvst audio 12.spend some time * 13.mockingbird *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZUZ7Q7x61w audio 14.crazy in love * 15.one shot 2 shot *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqX9maBWvh0 audio 16.encore * 3s=4 2s=6 1s=6 rating: 1.8 allmusic: 1.8 |
