ROD STEWART "atlantic crossing" cd, 1975 #1 UK, #1 AU, #9 US, #21 CAN

one of only handful of Rod Stewart albums i own, the others are Camouflague,Body Wishes,Blondes Have More Fun,Vagabond Heart,Tonight's The Night and Every Picture Tells A Story...
i thought i loved this album but it appears not, i would have, but i dont like his cover od "drift away" and "stone cold sober", the rest of the tracks are either very good or brilliant IMO.
this one contains the mega-million selling single "sailing" and another hit "this old heart of mine", but my favourite one on here is the Crazy Horse cover "i dont want to talk about it" which they released on their debut self titled album around 1971ish...Rod's cover would rate as one of my favourite cover versions ever...
not my favourite album by Rod, but it sure comes close!
also, recently heard several tracks off his latest album called "time", that one sounds pretty good IMO, well, against his recent series of covers albums it would!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: drift away
best track: i dont want to talk about it"

tracks:

1. three time loser ***
2. alright for an hour **
3. all in the name of roack and roll **

A real classic. Love this album. Also like his 'Footloose and Fancy Free' album

Busy listening to Floyd's 'Obscured By Clouds' - some of the material appeared in the movie 'The Valley'. Quite like the quieter sections on this album. Wright in particular is pretty good on this album. Also had a stab at DSOTM - Live at the Empire Pool - one of the discs that came with the Immersion Set. Some great jamming - even Waters sounds pretty good on bass on this one.

An open letter to the Music Discussion Forum

Dear forum members,

Could you please advise as to whether one of your esteemed members, the honourable Music Head, has possibly ever listened to a phonographic recording made by the artist known as J.J Cale. I would be very interested to hear his views on this subject.

Yours sincerely

Music from the Body - Roger Waters & Ron Geesin. Thought I would give this album one last try. Verdict: Junk with a capital J - into the bin it goes........

What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 10-06-2013

Going to have stab at something I have not listened to in 30 years or more - The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!!! Transylvania (sp) here I come..........

And to get entirely in the mood I am going to roll on those old suspenders. The neighbours are going to love this carry on!

sorry Jerome
forgot this

actually I'm more of a John Cale (Paris 1919) than a J.J. Cale fan
5 is the only one I have
haven't heard it in years so I can't give a good evaluation
can't say I can even recall any of the tracks on it
so I must not have been impressed

What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 10-06-2013

Wow MH, you surprise me again ! I like John Cale's Paris 1919, and as far as JJ Cale is concerned, I have a Clapton & Cale album. I know Cale wrote Cocaine and his debut album ....Naturally...was highly regarded by critics...however I'm with you ...not a big fan and I really can't recall his music !...lol
