i read somewhere this week that MJ's "thriller" has just passed the 30million sales mark in the US and the 100 million sales mark worldwide...
an amazing feat for any album!,
but then again it is "the perfect pop album" IMO, and the album that all other pop albums are judged by music critics worldwide.

UK charts overview 29th January 2016:
ALBUM CHART:
The impact of David Bowie continues at pace this week as the Starman dominates the Official Albums Chart and matches the chart record of another late, great music legend.
Following his death earlier this month, Bowie's final album Blackstar spends a third week at Number 1, and heads up five Bowie releases make the Top 10 simultaneously: Best of Bowie (3), Nothing Has Changed (5), Hunky Dory (9) and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (10). This feat means Bowie is the first act to score five albums in the Top 10 since Michael Jackson managed six in 2009 after his passing.
But that's not all. The Bowie influence continues farther down the Official Albums Chart, with the rock legend landing seven more Top 40 entries, bringing his total to 12. This brings Bowie level with Elvis Presley's chart record for simultaneous Top 40 entries, which the King achieved following his death in 1977.
Aside from Bowie's Top 5 domination, Adele's 25 stays firm at Number 2 this week, while Justin Bieber's Purpose climbs a spot to 4.
Highest new entry this week goes to Suede, who return to the Official Albums Chart after almost six years with Night Thoughts, their seventh Top 10 album, at Number 6.
It's an 11th Top 40 for Megadeth, as Dystopia goes straight in at Number 11, while Elle King's performance on Graham Norton sees her album Love Stuff rocket 40 places to land at Number 18.
Kingâs debut record also tops our first ever Official Americana Albums Chart, which was launched this week.
Prog artist Steven Wilson lands a fourth Top 40 with 4½, at Number 21, and London rockers Savages debut at Number 26 with second album Adore Life.
David Bowie sees four albums break back into the Top 40 this week: Heroes (28), Diamond Dogs (30), Station to Station (32) and Scary Monsters (36) all make a triumphant return.
Americana star Lucinda Williams is new at 33 with The Ghosts Of Highway 20 and Rachel Plattenâs Wildfire rebounds back into the Top 40 at 35.
Bristol band Coasts are brand new at Number 38 with their self-titled debut, and Rudimentalâs We The Generation pops up again this week, back at 39.

UK singles chart overview for 29th January 2016:
Shawn Mendes once again has this weekâs Official Singles Chart all sewn up as his track Stitches leads the way for a second week.The track comfortably earns a second week at Number 1, finishing just over 13,000 combined sales ahead of his closest rival, Justin Bieberâs Love Yourself. Stitches also claims the title of this weekâs most streamed song (3.51 million plays) and finally snatches the title from Bieber, who has claimed the most streamed song for the last 10 weeks.
Zooming 58 places to Number 3 this week is producer Jonas Blue with his dance cover of Tracy Chapmanâs Fast Car. The song out-peaks Chapmanâs 1988 hit, which hit a high of Number 4 in 2011 following its appearance in an episode of Britainâs Got Talent (its peak when it was first released was Number 5 in 1988).
Rounding off this weekâs Top 5 are Justin Bieberâs Sorry (4) and Snakehipsâ All My Friends ft Tinashe & Chance The Rapper, which climbs three spots to hit a new high at Number 5.
[h=4]New entries and high climbers[/h]Little Mixâs Secret Love Song ft Jason Derulo continues to scale the chart, jumping four places to Number 12, and Rihannaâs Work is new at Number 13 following its surprise release on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, US singer-songwriter Elle King scores her UK Top 40 debut with Exâs & Ohâs, vaulting from 64 to 15. Kingâs album Love Stuff also tops our first ever Official Americana Albums Chart, which was launched this week.
Kygoâs Stay ft Maty Noyes jumps from 27 to 20, Danish soul-pop band Lukas Graham score their first UK Top 40 hit with 7 Years, and Jason Deruloâs Get Ugly is up 32 places to 25, giving the star his 15[SUP]th[/SUP] Top 40 hit.
Finally, Swedish singer Zara Larsson jumps from 40 to 27 with Lush Life, Alessia Caraâs Here enters the Top 40 at 28, and US rising star Dawin climbs nine spots to 35 with Dessert.

Adele's "hello" slips out of the top 10 to #11 this week after 24wks on the chart...
Selena Gomez rockets up from #30 to #13 with her latest effort "hands to myself"

I read somewhere yesterday (and I'll post the article later)
That Rihanna's album is all set to debut at #1 in the UK this week even though
the album has sold less than 900 physical copies,
this is because streaming is used to determine the charts...
What a farce!
There was also another article last week that said Bieber didn't sell one physical
copy of "love yourself" in the UK, but streaming made it a #1 hit...
My question...
Do artists earn royalties for streaming listens?
