Our members musical taste - Daniel Eboli - 28-11-2009 I think I need an upgrade in my music background  Our members musical taste - Catherine Sutter - 03-12-2009 Okay, I chose "electronic" but it was a very tough decision! I love different genres for different reasons/moods. My other top choices are alternative/rock, pop, and hip-hop/rap. Our members musical taste - Parthenia - 18-12-2009 Classical - it dominates my playlists. Although my taste in music is quite varied... Our members musical taste - asp3 - 20-12-2009 I'm frankly surprised and thrilled that Alternative and Indie are so represented here. It makes me think I've found the right place to expand my musical knowledge. Jazz love it when im alone. can i re-vote jazz? =( Our members musical taste - faaipdeoaid - 20-01-2010 I'm gonna leave the vote as It depends on which day of the week it is Our members musical taste - writehearnow - 10-02-2010 I read every response in this thread. All very interesting. I voted for Rock because it's my musical orientation. I also see Rock as the cradle for at least 70% of the choices in this poll. Indie BTW is not a type of music, it's a label orientation. Many bands that start out "Indie" go mainstream. The type of music they play is rarely different. Them being them with respect to their specific musical output is what gets them on to a major label. I'm 47 years old and have never been more excited about music and it's evolution than I am now. All my life I have been on a musical quest. If I had to make up an imaginary label for the music I most love, it might go something like this: Energetic, groove inducing, rock oriented music, infused with limitless genre flavors and musical instrument types. Our members musical taste - pyoung30 - 22-03-2010 soul/r&b, followed closely by classic rock Our members musical taste - shadowmac - 26-03-2010 I must qualify my vote. What is "metal" to you, may not be metal to me. Let me explain: I chose "metal" as my preferred style, but for those of you who don't really know what metal truly is, please read on. More than any other style of music, the definition and diversity of metal has changed over time and there are now a multitude of metal sub-genres (some of which I can't stand). Further, "metal" has morphed over time; much of what was (at some point) considered heavy metal is now considered hard-rock. Examples: Led Zep Deep Purple Rush - 2112 was the hardest stuff out there at the time of its release - now it's "classic rock" Queensryche and a host of 80's "metal" bands are now considered hard rock. The point: Don't throw all your "metal" eggs into one "metal" basket. mile:Mac |
