You know, it's interesting you mention headphones. I need to get a new pair. I'm not an audiophile, but I really liked the sound of Sennheiser. Do you have any recommendations, or is there a forum here that I haven't come across that discusses equipment?

I have always had Koss PRO headphones! They last a long time and have a great sound! Then again I think Sennheiser are every much as good as Koss, maybe better!

I didn't pay this much as mine are over ten years old!..lol

Sennheiser is an excellent line and I've used them successfully for 40+ years, including their wireless versions. However to provide you a wider choice there is the most excellent consumer tech site with their hard-nosed reviews ( they use long-time acoustic engineers for this and aren't afraid to show reviews/tests from other sources) and also include prices from sources...and update those as things change. Roger Hodson’s Open the Door. Not Supertramp, but pretty close, and all in all, a great listen. Having said that, it must be very limiting for an artist to be forever associated with one major act and never allowed by their public to deviate from the formula, or if they do, to face becoming a pariah! Vangelis has said that he has this very same problem, where the expectations placed upon him do not allow him to create freely, as he would wish, or certainly not to publish his private compositions which he works on all the time and which he may never reveal. To hear him speak, you understand the ‘trap’. On the flipside, Hodgson is at least half of what made that very distinctive Supertramp sound, so he’s bound to perpetuate the style, to a large degree.

Back to Open the Door - there are around 27 contributors on this one, far too many to list, but some names that stand out are Trevor Rabin, Alan Simon and Didier Lockwood. The album was recorded in France using quite a few local musicians, which no doubt adds the international flavour – it’s also beautifully arranged.

Here is the nearly nine minute epic title track which doesn't seem to feel that long at all …

I liked Supertramp's Some Things Never Change which was released a few years before Open the Door. Supertramp were excellent live around this time.

I am currently listening to Phil Upchurch's Darkness Darkness album. I always liked the Mott the Hoople version of the song (from Brain Capers), with Mick Ralphs on lead vocals, and thought Upchurch was the composer. It was actually The Youngbloods about whom I know next to nothing. Upchurch had also passed me by, but has a cool feel to his playing.
