Kansas - Two for the Show - one of the best live albums I have ever heard - the band are just screaming along at full tilt. Incredible piece of work.

JAKCSON BROWNE "late for the sky" cd, 1974

career stats:
studio albums..............12
singles........................44

this album....................#14 US
singles:
"walking slow"...............no chart action
"fountain of sorrow".......no chart action

one of those '3 for $10' discount bin specials....
pretty hard to bypass Jackson Browne because he was a quality artist(and ive picked that up after only owning three and a compilation prior to this one)...
his softer side comes out on this one, less of the rock/soft rock and more of the ballad type material...
melodic by nature, soulful by sound...
this one is all class and I really need to get some more of his studio albums....

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

worst track: the late show
best track: for a dancer

SMALL FACES "from the beginning" cd, 1967

career stats:
studio albums...........6
singles....................14
ep's........................14

not really a studio album but a collection of songs/singles released over the previous two years...
obviously being a compilation its pretty good, only a couple of complaints from me
a cover of Del Shannon's "runaway"...seriously, it doesn't work!
and an instrumental also...the Who also dabbled with the odd instrumental(batman theme + the ox, come to mind immediately)
theres just no need for these rockers to pursue that line of work...but hey, plenty of rock bands followed over the decades with
instrumentals, so I guess it started right here with foreward thinking Steve Marriott and Townshend...
all up though, these guys are my favourite 1960s UK band so it was good to listen to them once again after all this time!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

LOL...great minds and all that jazz....
I just wrote the same thing in the thread for his new single about Ziggy, without even seeing this post.

JEFF LYNNE'S ELO "alone in the universe" cd, 2015

album stats..........#4 UK...#15 AU...yet to be released in some marketplaces!
singles:
"when I was a boy"........no chart action
"alone in the universe"...no chart action

I refuse to call this one an ELO album because Lynne plays every instrument except 'shakers'/'tamborines'...
its really a solo record if you look at it like that and if it was solely credited to Lynne I bet half the people who have bought it
probably wouldn't have...including me!
has all the hallmarks of an ELO album, light orchestrations, almost Beatle-esque lyrics and melodies and the unmistakable sound of Jeff Lynne...
ten tracks on here but it alo includes two so-called bonus tracks(strange because there is no 'deluxe' version, just the standard version.
a couple of tracks I really love on here...theyre the two singles so far, a couple I don't like, but the rest are pretty good.
one of the bonus tracks, Fault Line, could have been a Travelling Willburys' song, I can picture Tom Petty belting that one out for sure!
its not a bad album of songs, if you get it, don't expct anything as rocky as 'don't bring m down' or bouncy as 'shine a little love' because it just isn't there!
all up though, a pleasant enough album from Mr. Jeff Lynne

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: im leaving you

What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 22-11-2015

was curious about the way the name was credited
guess that explains it
it's not ELO, it's Jeff Lynne's ELO
