fifth studio album by this Ohio native....
i'd never heard of him until "all of me"....
album is primarily piano based ballads with a couple of uptempo tunes thrown in the mix....
one of the interlinking pieces called "angel" was actually an old Style Council tune from their 1987 album "the cost of loving",
but for some reason Paul Weller hasn't been given credit as writer.....very strange indeed????
all up this is rather disappointing to me, I expected a lot more from Legend but he failed to really deliver or capitalise on "all of me"....
there a couple of bonus live tracks on this album including a piano version of Springsteen's "dancing in the dark" and Simon & Garfunkel's
"bridge over troubled waters", the S&G is crap but The Boss track is okay...
this album barely makes the passing grade for me...

his production credits are quite eclectic producing albums for Santana, Earth Wind & Fire, Mary J Blige, Sarah McLachlan, John Legend to name a few...
this is his third solo set....
all the songs are about women/members of the fairer sex....
very little rap on this one except for the one with guest artist Snoop Dogg and my favourite track...
my favourite track is a piano based track about a woman....Mother Nature, its a Global Warming track...
songs are r+b, soul and/or funky in nature....
I like most of this album but like too many modern artists they feer they have to use up as much of the 76 minutes allowed on cd...
that makes the album too long IMO and towards the end I get bored with too much filler and too much of nothing...
hd the album only contained ten or twelve tracks instead of an overblown seventeen I would have liked it....
shame really, because he is quite a good artist....

debut album from this 26 year old from Atlanta,Georgia....
album is rooted deep in the 1960s US soul/r+b formatted sound....
it even sounds like a mono recording in places to give it that old fashioned feel....
good vocals, nice music and a blessing to hear good old fashioned r+b coming from an American black singer of his age...
none of that foul language crap neither...
the guy has class, lets hope he continues to grow as a performer through his career and not get suckered in by rappers and 'featuring...' crap!
that said, this album did take a few listens to really hook me but....

a forty track double cd compilation of both Miracle tracks and Smokey solo.....
the first disc(one im posting now) contains twenty three tracks and cover the years 1959-1971....
the tracks on this one are in chronological order from the couple of doo-wop singles they made early on through
to their classic Motown years....
I love Smokey's falsetto on these tracks, nothing on this disc I don't like but I was sure surprised when it didn't come out
in the ratings as high as I thought it would, but I still love it!
best track on this disc for me is the superb "you really got a hold on me" which The Beatles covered just as good in 1963.
all up a very classy disc of tracks from the Motown stable....

several Miracles' songs on this disc but mostly Smokey solo material...
this one covers the period, mid 1960s thru 1991...
sorry, but I just don't like a lot of his solo material, I find it boring, and that beautiful falsetto
has all but disappeared by the mid 1980s...
best solo track for me is "bein' with you", the rest I can take or leave, no sweat whether I hear those solo ones again...
all up though, both discs are a very good representation of his stellar career, so its pretty hard to knock a guy who is
still making records to this day.
