Ludwig van Beethoven died on this day in 1827. Daniel Barenboim does more than justice to his Piano Sonata No 8 (Pathetique).

a British musical institution was Ian Dury....
im a big fan of this guy and his music...
almost vaudevillian at times, mostly tongue-in-cheek, but honest just the same...
contracted Polio as a child, almost paralysed down one side of his body, had cancer, fought it, beat it and eventually succumb to it...
died a pauper as he used to use his money to help the unfortunate sick and crippled souls around the world....
RIP Ian......

^You just have to admire all that pickin' - good grief!
Hugh McCracken died on this day in 2013 - he had leukemia. Rock guitarist and harmonica player, he was a session musician, and hugely in demand by all accounts. Itâs more a question of who didnât he play with?! A remarkably diverse and extensive discography this man had â from Steely Dan to Billy Joel and allsorts in between - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_McCracken.
Heâs on slide guitar on this one â
