Watched some AFL ...is there a football (soccer) league in Australia?
Sports Talk - CRAZY-HORSE - 18-05-2015
yes there is a football league here in Australia SteveO....
i think the Grand Final was actually played yesterday(or saturday), but i dont follow it.
a lot of the players play in the Asian Leagues(japan, china, korea etc etc) and a few of them also play in the EPL(english premier league) and Championship Leageue in the UK also....
Soccer/Football is getting pretty big here now, its up there with the AFL and Rugby(both codes) for popularity.

the Premier League team i follow, in Arsenal, won the coverted FA-Cup final a few hours ago against Aston Villa 4-0
Arsenal now hold the record for winning that cup more than any other team,
previous to this win they were equal on 13 wins with Manchester United...
here's a newsarticle on the match if anyone is interested:

^ Congratulations to Arsenal! I have been a fan of Chelsea since 1966 well before they got rich...winning the league again this year! Arsenal must also hold the record for the longest tenure in the top flight divisons , old First Division and Premier League without being relegated!!!

In answer to your question about "relegations" SteveO,
Every team has at some point been relegated from the EPL and/or formally the old 1st Division....
Arsenal were only relegated once, in around 1913-ish for a couple of seasons I believe....
So they have been in the 'tip flight' for over a hundred consecutive years now which is longer than any other club....
My memory may be hazy but I'm sure that Everton are the only other club to have only been relegated on one solitary occasion,
As I said, I could be wrong about Everton?????

AFL:
round 10......Fremantle lose their first game of the season, going down to the Richmond Tigers by 27pts....
anyway, winning nine straight up till last night equalled a club record, so we're doing alright.
Richmond played magnificent football last night and my team played below par for what they have done so far this year...
im expecting Richmond to make the finals this year, where theyll finish is a mystery, but theyll get there to the play-offs for sure!
