The Track I'm Listening To Is....................... - SteveO - 31-01-2013
MD had a thread whereby you could name the ten best rock bands of all time...I included Jethro Tull on my list and a couple of members ...possibly Jerome, exmembers Tiggi and Tony were surprised even though they liked JT! I have always loved the band from day one...Living in the Past was going through my mind all day yesterday so I had to see it on youtube...lol

on Jethro Tull...you have a favourite JT moment SteveO????, i havent got one track i can place above all others, simply love a lot of them equally, i recently heard a so-called 'best of' Tull album at tem's store...it was terrible due to the fact that i realised their songe sound better as complete albums and each album flows in a conceptual type of thing, so picking a track from here or there just doesnt work well...Pink floyd are another band like that IMO,the albums have to be left alone as a complete entity without separating tracks....they are not stand alone songs whatsoever as they are pieces of a puzzle(one piece doesnt make a lot of sense, but fit all the pieces together and the picture is complete)

I think they had a special following ...very good band with master musicians of which a couple of them can virtually play any instrument!...Up on Cripple Creek, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Life is a Carnival, I Shall be Released(Dylan), Chest Fever, This Wheel's On Fire and of course the unforgettable classic The Weight...come to mind when I think of the Band!...They had a truly unique and appealing sound when they emerged in the late sixties.
Crazy, check out the double album...The Basement Tapes with The Band and Bob Dylan...it's a definite joy and a masterpiece!!!! They had a close connection with His Bobness!...I also enjoy the live Band/Dylan album...Before the Flood!

on The Band
i have two of theirs plus a compilation...never found them to be any more than an average group with more duds than good/very good songs, The Weight, is a classic in its own right IMO
