Lindsey Stirling - Shatter Me - Music Head - 10-05-2014 enters the Billboard chart this week at #2 Spotify online listen 3.0 of 5.0 from allmusic no thanks, I like my classical music non-electronic a lot of dance stuff on here instrumental except for 2 pop tracks never heard of the vocalist on either how does this come on the chart at #2? I'll never understand this stuff I'd rather listen to Korn than this probably fun to watch her perform though artist website - http://www.lindseystirling.com/home/ Bio - from allmusic Combining her love of classical music with EDM, hip-hop, and dubstep, violinist, dancer, and performance artist Lindsey Stirling is best known for videos she posts to her YouTube channel, and for competing on the fifth season of America's Got Talent in 2010. Born in Santa Ana, California, Stirling grew up in Arizona and began studying classical violin at the age of five. In her teens, she played in a rock band called Stomp on Melvin and competed in the Junior Miss competition, winning the Arizona Junior Miss title. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Stirling studied therapeutic recreation at Brigham Young University. In 2010, she appeared as the "hip hop violinist" on NBC's America's Got Talent, in which she showcased her unique performance style of dancing and playing the violin at the same time, accompanied by electronic backing tracks. After finishing in the quarter-finals of the show, Stirling began focusing more on filming videos for her YouTube channel. Working with director/cinematographer Devin Graham, Stirling has produced a series of videos that feature her performing her music in beautiful, evocative outdoor settings or with striking visual accompaniment; one of her videos, "Crystallize," has been viewed more than 75 million times. She released her self-titled debut album of all-original material in 2012 through her own Lindseystomp label. The album sold over 200,000 copies in the United States as an independent release, and was certified Gold in Germany (selling over 100,000 copies there), Austria, and Switzerland. After successful concert tours throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Russia, Stirling signed a deal with Lady Gaga's management firm, Atom Factory, and reissued her eponymous debut album through Universal Music. 2013 also saw Stirling release a pair of collaborative EPs, one with Tyler Ward, the other with Ward and Chester See. Album Review - from allmusic Dancer, violinist, Manga and dubstep enthusiast, composer, performance artist, America's Got Talent contestant, and Elder Scrolls-loving internet celebrity, Salt Lake City, Utah native Lindsey Stirling is the Faerie Queen of millennial new age music, and her sophomore studio album, the 12-track, largely conceptual Shatter Me, offers up a spirited set of high-octane classical crossover confections that occupy the barbed wire and flower petal strewn middle ground between Evanescence, Riverdance, Skrillex, and Narnia. Like her 2013 debut, Shatter Me is essentially a showcase for Stirling's instrumental prowess, and she delivers the heat with all of the fire, fury, and mad, pixie-ish sweetness that drew millions of people to her Lindseystomp YouTube channel, especially on standouts like "Beyond the Veil," "Master of Tides," and "Roundtable Rival," which weave sharp, confident melodies over a backdrop of glitch-heavy, yet largely conventional slabs of radio-ready electro-pop.
