So far in 2009 we have seen a lot of new music from a variety of bands! Which 09 releases are you most looking forward to?

I've just received my copy of Jason Lytle's (Ex-Grandaddy) solo album. Love the bands' stuff, so have high expectations of this release.

Haven't listened yet, but will report in due course...

The only release I'm really looking forward to is The Mars Volta's "Octahedron." I don't really know of anybody else that I like who is releasing anything new... I might just be out of the loop, though.

Same here. Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Beirut have already released their new stuff and I don't know of anything else at the moment.

Are you serious? They pretty much sound the same on every album. Just cut out some pieces of older tracks, put them together, give them some artsy fartsy names and (drum roll...) you've got the new album you're waiting for.

Update: I'm curious as to how Anathema's upcoming album will sound like. May be out in September.

Update no. 2: Hella may finish their new album till the end of the year.

That seems to be the consensus with a lot of people, pertaining to the Volta comment (too lazy to quote). I don't really understand it myself. I might be a philistine, but I enjoy their later albums all the same.

Yes - start of June I think.

@ trbc08 - My son's also anxiously awaiting The Mars Volta album and still annoyed that when they are playing their one concert in Ireland this year, we'll be in America - you do realise this is your fault.

Don't worry didn't you read the thread? Iota doesn't either - so obviously you are both on the same musical wavelength

(good luck with the studying)
