An under-rated jazz singer...and educator and journalist - jazzboCR - 28-01-2015
Roseanna Vitro has covered everything from Ray Charles to Randy Newman to Clare Fischer with panache and style, piano and voice. For journalist and educator info, see this on her site: http://www.roseannavitro.com/ Her AMG bio and discog: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/roseanna-vitro-mn0000288301/biography and http://www.allmusic.com/artist/roseanna-vitro-mn0000288301/discography. I'd known about her before but Ron Weinstock's blog entry brought it home: http://inabluemood.blogspot.com/2012/03/rosanna-vitro-delirium-blues-project.html << love that word "conjured"...
Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aefRTToU5Yg << This version might be why Randy Newman wrote this song....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfXG_d4_KUk << such a lovely version--plenty of room for her cohorts to stretch out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=royLJYAw9G0 << a duet with Kevin Mahogany on a classic tune--intelligent scat indeed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd67oTKIqjM << the violin adds so much to this rendition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkBClW6MV1s << W/Fred Hersch, one of the best modern pianists--at once muscular and sensitive
BONUS:; I scribbled about her appreciation of Clare Fischer--here's a 1 + hours of such, in concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoJREOgc2oc

Look at her photos and you'll never say "his" or "he" again--one robust woman, you betcha.
