...In Denmark, that's wherever Thorbjorn Risager and the Black Tornado are playing. A 7-piece horn-driven Blues/soul/R&B/etc. band always gets my attention but he and they take it to the next level. A wiki: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ON6QmisTwE << Run it through Google Translate and there you go. His Discog--no official reviews but his fans sure like them...about 5 minutes from now, you will too: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/thorbjorn-risager-mn0001992185 << 7 discs in 8 years...and he's just hitting his stride. His Site: http://risager.info/ << He's slaying them in Europe--crowds doubling at some venues, year-to-year.

Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ixdZD6W108
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Y-u6svNcs << This is a timeless piece.

In Spain, it's their Euro Blues Challenge entry, A Contra Blues. A totally-pro outfit with 2 swell guitars. Only 1 generally available CD ('13's Chances)--the Site lists 4 more.
Their Site: http://acontrablues.com/ << They play a lot and host regular Blues parties in their home city, Barcelona.

Some songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlqbKv1xjQ4 << the younger drummer is not just sitting in --no info on him but he sure does the job.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP6F5hsWjsw << from that Gumbo Jam they host << narrative in Spanish, natch, but sing in English
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO0_g9_9fkg << "Fever" filtered through Spanish sensibility and language--it so works!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d31wy9AVsw << Had to put this one in for the Bob Dylan fans...2 guitars play well off each other
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFx08jaxQFY << Lovely and eloquent << If you want to think Ray Charles-ish, go ahead--it's a supreme compliment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbS2Vchw5dM << Imagine coming on this when your amblin'... I'm rapt and so is the audience.

In the UK, David Migden and the Twisted Roots are the "go-see" band. No AMG bio, no Wiki but his Site is complete: http://www.davidmigdenandthedirtywords.com/ << the UK's IBC entry this year. We need him to come/come back to the U.S.--he'd be a headliner at his first fest and no looking back.

Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czitQlXLJQw << some of the tastiest slide guitar you'll hear this year
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlLW38LS-6Y << Really? Not even 400 views of this magnificence? I sincerely hope this quote doubles that number.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpwlIJID7Zo << The questions were asked--"Voodoo Blues? Jazz-inflected soul?" My answer--"Just dig it."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDEXGVai8Xw << riveting the way he/they shape songs. Almost telepathic between them. And again...that slide player... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n148nIWpIrE << some see this as a bit blasphemous << made at a London DJ's home/studio: http://www.ravenblues.co.uk/

Yeah buddy--they're reelin' with the feelin', you betcha. One of the hardest things to do is play rhythm and sing melody--she does that nicely, tho' Blues is more about rhythm. Makes you respect Karen Carpenter all the more. Loves me that honkin' horn too.
Nice share, Bro SteveO.

I listen to the CBC Radio show Saturday Night Blues with Holger Petersen! There is a treasure trove of obscure blues artists on that show...that's where I discovered 24th Street Wailers!
