Marcus Belgrave, RIP - jazzboCR - 10-06-2015
Late last month we laid to rest the heart and soul of a downbeat city's music community. A killer player and leader (top 10 trumpeter ever? Yes.), known in large part for his Motown playing. The NY Times has a nice homage: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/27/arts/marcus-belgrave-trumpeter-and-mentor-in-detroits-jazz-scene-dies-at-78.html His Site: http://www.marcusbelgrave.net/ << Opens with music. Mr. Belgrave is a hero to me--the kind of human, too-little-heralded, who makes the world a more stable, better place. He'll be missed and never replaced. Goodbye, Bro.
