Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - Hello-nature - 02-10-2015 I just joined today. I am a retired Forester. 60 years young and have been listening to alot more music in my retirement. I signed up for Google Play Music and absolutely am a kid in a candy shop. I love it!! I find everytime I share a song with a friend, they don't seemed inclined to listen, like or comment on it. Soooo, I guess its time to go further afield and find people who are actually excited about new song and performer discoveries. I have several new ones which I will share over the next while!! Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-10-2015 welcome to the great MD Nature-guy.... to be fair, we don't always comment on posts here, but we generally listen to what is posted... so, what are your favourite musical artists and which ones, or genres, do you not like? Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-10-2015 PS: if you stay around awhile you will discover music that you've never heard of before from all genres.... and I for one, try to post something that is new in music several times a week(time permitted) Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - SteveO - 04-10-2015 Welcome aboard the Great MD, Nature! Pleased to have another Canuck on board! Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - Hello-nature - 06-10-2015 Can't listen to any rap. I don't mind some classical but generally I don't go looking for it. I like electric guitar and songs with a discernible melody. Pretty much pop anything .... jazz, rock .... with some strange stuff thrown in like early Alice Cooper.... Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - Hello-nature - 06-10-2015 Thanks we have both coasts covered!! Let's get definitional: rap is primarily concerned with words--the music is distinctly secondary; hip-hop reverses the equation and thus is increasingly incorporated into jazz. The thing of it is, where do you you place the '50's Beat poets in the Pantheon? After all, the words were primary with a jazz background...and Shakespeare could be considered a rap progenitor in that he coined over 700 words. They'd (rapistos) be easier to get a grip on but for the hate-filled, anti-everything verbiage... Antlers in the treetops/ By Who Goosed the Moose? That's both major coasts of 1 country...and even that is limiting--don't you have a coast on the Arctic Sea? This from the Gulf coast of Florida, winter home of a slew of fine Canadians, primarily from Ontario. Step up your game, bro--this is the major leagues. Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - Hello-nature - 08-10-2015 Haha. I will try to step up. Hopefully we will hear from an Arctic Canuck so we can cover all 3 coasts. Florida seems like a great idea. I spent a week in Daytona Beach a few years back - in and out via Orlando. Fun! Greetings from Southern Vancouver Island (Victoria) - Hello-nature - 08-10-2015 Yes, I can listen to the spoken word if its within the construct of something whole or bigger. Bruce Cockburn, one of my favorite artists, has some talk but he blends with with such great music that it seems to fit. The hate filled stuff. It must so something for the angst ridden, of which I am not one. I want something positively mood altering. My crack is pop music and its relatives .... |
