Health, hospital and shaves.............. - Beach - 05-09-2009

As a few of our members will already know, my health has been in decline for some time now and, as a consequence, I am to be admitted to hospital next Tuesday morning (my time) for what should be a minor procedure to have my Prostate re-sectioned.
However, there are some concerns with the anaesthetic and, among other things, I was told I would need to shave my beard and moustache off. A true imposition for me as they have been my dear friends for these past thirty years.
Over the last few days I have been trying to get it done professionally at a barber shop however, none of these establishments now allow their staff, regardless of training, to shave anyone. I did point out that I only had cancer and not bloody HIV. :nono:
So this morning, using scissors and the only shaving implement I have in the house I went from bearded to this and I hate it.

Beach
I feel your pain. I have had a full beard most of my life. Had to shave it once for a job interview which I didn't get. I said never again.
From the short time I have been a member here I have read numerous posts just to try and get a feel for other members backgrounds. Didn't take me long to pick up on your troubles and realize you are well respected at the site. Members will discover that I'm an old softie. I wish you the best my friend.

It's hard to lose part of your identity whatever the reason but with a guiding wind you will be feeling better and sprouting more hair shortly, I'm sure.

- don't feel bad about yourself, you seem like a pretty cool dude, with or without the beard!

I'd echo everything above, Beach, old buddy.

But I'd maybe add that your new look is pretty cute...

Is it possible to get beard wigs ??

You would, Tigger!
Thanks to everybody. As soon as I can let everyone know how Tuesday went, I will but I have the biggest fight of my life now and hope to be around for awhile longer.
Take care all!
Cool

Hi folks!
I'm back home as of yesterday and just trying to relax a little.
I feel constantly sick on the stomach these days as if I'd been drinking soapy water but, at least it appears that I'm starting to pee properly again for the time being. Though a fair bit of it is blood at the current time and I am led to believe this will continue for sometime.
They also gave me a dental X-ray while I was in the hospital to check on the condition of my gums and jaw as the injectable medication for the 'bone pain' once I start on chemo will be a drug called zoledronic acid and one of its nastier side effects can be osteonecrosis of the jaw. To this end, I still have to see a dentist in the next couple of weeks.
I guess you could say that the operation was successful however.
Thanks for your concern my friends.
