"Scream, Aim, Fire", by Bullet For My Valentine, is very fun, but terribly repetitive. Maybe 2 minutes of good song in there, then 3 more of the same stuff. Simply put that over extending a repeated introduction melody or an extravagant guitar solo may make the song longer than it really it. But this is a rare occasion for songs and it is hardly found on the greatest albums of all time. People say that jazz albums have overextended tracks; a true misconception as jazz incorporates the art of improvisation and most jazz bands had at least 5 members to a band if not more; ie Bitches Brew. It really depends on the type of music we are listening to. like if were have a copy of a record by an emotional goth band we assume that it's gonna be a long album, as opposed to punk rock which has edgy, fast-paced riffs and lyrics to get their point across. It's all relative. |
