Ok, well its so hard to label a favourite album and even harder a favourite song, but i do think that Led Zepellin II showed the world who they are what kind of music they were going to make for the next 10 years. Although many people agree that Led Zepellin IV is the best album, it will always be in a special place in my heart, though II shows the expansive range and skill sets of Led Zepellin as well as their clear influences from blues and blues rock to from the greatest hard rock supergroup ever to walk the planet.

Favourite song: Hard to say.

I'm going to split this into 2 parts - studio and live.

The greatest studio recording by the quartet IMO is Stairway to Heaven, although there are many that come close; most notably the ones that were released as singles. Yes, I was astounded to find out as I was collecting my Led Zepellin stuff 3-4 years ago that Stairway to Heaven was never released as a single and will remain as the most played song not released as a single ever.

The greatest live song to witness would have to be Dazed and Confused or perhaps the 1970 Royal Albert Hall performance of White Summer. Both, show Page's prowess as a guitarist as he uses the violin bow in Dazed and Confused to the ridiculous improvised solos of White Summer (on the DVD).

Band that i feel come closest to their music - NONE. No one should or will ever replace these rock gods. Clearly why three of them are still alive.

Speaking of the alive members, check out Them Crooked Vultures a supergroup formed by John Paul Jones.

carbon you keep asking questions that cause brain activity.

I'm workin' on it.

Led Zepellin - kvincent5555 - 01-10-2009

1. III
2. Immigrant Song

3. I'm sure there are zillions of good soundalike cover bands in local bars everywhere trying to exploit the gimmick, so it's difficult to know. As legitimate artists go, I don't think you'll find one, as a good artist would recognize their influence, but because of their enormous influence, would have the good sense to know that it would be cliche to try to be too much like them...Make sense?

2. Since I've Been Lovin' You

3. The Black Crowes do a good job backing J Page on the Live at The Greek album...

The Song Remains The Same - one of the truly great live rock n roll albums. My favourite from this album - No Quarter.

Led Zep at their best - https://youtu.be/PD-MdiUm1_Y
