Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - carbon_psycho - 11-10-2009 Share a genre/type of music you hate or just find annoying. Also state the reason, could be the culture that is associated with that music, or because you feel it sounds silly.. etc.. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - goth metal raver - 12-10-2009 boybands - eg. Boyzone, Westlife etc. Soppy but empty and cliched - bland music that only gets made because it sells. I've also never really understood country and western. It's probably because I'm not American. I've just never 'got' it. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - carbon_psycho - 12-10-2009 I like country but some artists and their music are just too tasteless.. can't name any, because I never bother remembering their names.. I never found Tim Mcgraw any interesting.. all his songs sound the same.. just heard few, so his fans, plz don't attack me on this.. But I feel he is too boring. Don Mclean, John Denver, kenny Rogers.. they had some good music.. I hate Boyzone, I hated them even more when they went solo... Bands in which members cant play any instrument.. I hate them to the core.. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - AddyO - 16-12-2009 You've really got me with this one. I CAN NOT abide Reggae and Ragga. Energy sapping, mostly religious filled sounds, that just irk me. I then suppose its obvious to say i don't like Gospel music or anything that contains/has any religious undertones/affiliation. Apart from those, i suppose i'd give anything a listen. I'm an advocate of quality rather than anything else!!! Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - Drealm - 17-12-2009 There is 2 kinds: 1. Rap Because most of the songs are simple repetitive beats that are most of the time not very good and that the only reason the songs seems made in the first place is to express frustrations and violence about society. Even if basically they want to "denounce" problems, they end up with a very strong feeling of negativity that just show that they are deeply frustrated and violent. To put it musically, I see most of this music as the opposite of an "harmony". So I can't stand it. BUT, there is an exception: Cypress Hill. I have all their albums and I am a fan. That's the only rap band I actually have in my collection. 2. Soft Rock I don't know if I'm right here, but it is the direct translation (in french: Rock Détente) of a radio station I have in my region that play EXACTLY the kind of music I can't stand. If I want to show someone what kind of music I hate, it's simple, I just open the radio to this station and there's a 98% chance that I will really hate the song playing. It's the kind of slow commercial songs, Celine Dion being a good example (she comes from Quebec, the province where I live; she basically was speaking french). You know, typical commercial artists that always sing about love, their music showing nothing special, like you heard it a million times before. I sometimes fear to end up in a job where this radio plays all day long; I fear that it may affect my moral, slowly making me mad. I really can't stand this music. I think there is TOO much emphasis placed on originality and not enough on quality, and no, originality doesn't equal quality. I remember hearing Xzibit's first rap album many years ago. It was completely original, but Sh*te to match, and i'm sure that is not a one off thing! Furthermore, who wants to work and not get paid for it. There is no point in critical acclaim without the pay to go with it, and if that is your standpoint, you should go into classical music making or such! Lastly, and this is just to reinforce my point, "if something's not broken don't fix it", thats what they say isn't it, so if something has been done before and was successful/good why not do it again for the new generation. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - Jerome - 17-05-2016 Rap, Boybands, EDM, Disco, Metal and anything to do with 'talent' shows. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - bob_32_116 - 17-05-2016 I'm very wary of saying I hate a particular genre, because inevitably I will then think of an exception. For example: generally I can't stand disco, but there are a few great songs that were made for the dance floor. Also, I don't call boybands a genre, surely it depends on what they are singing? Sure, you can dismiss the concept behind creation of boybands and girlbands, but from time to time, possibly by accident, they will do something worthwhile. The monkees started out as a boyband, but they later gained a certain degree of respect because they took control of their artistic direction and actually wrote some of their songs and played instruments. And remember, it could be argued that The Beatles began as a boyband. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - CRAZY-HORSE - 17-05-2016 I hate the word "genre" period! sure. a lot of artists could be tied into a genre of music but what about the ones who aren't so easily placed????? example....Neil Young, most people would pigeon hole him as a folky... but he's probably only made half a dozen albums that would qualify out of over fifty studio albums in his career he's made jazz, blues, r+b/soul, pop, electronic, grunge, rock, alternative, country/folk, rockabilly.... so he is not a folky. Genre/Type of music you just can't stand - SteveO - 22-05-2016 I appreciate it all! I am weird enough to enjoy selected music from many genres...I don't avoid any particular genre.I may surprise myself and latch on to a good artist! |
