Geeez I hope you don't think I listen to DF a lot !!!!....lol...Listening to ambient progressive music lately...so many avenues to explore!....Simon Turner, Artium Carceri, Arcana,Northaunt, Coldworld, Troum....unpredictably good ! Oh by the way J Man, what is your favourite album or the one you listen to the most by Oldfield ? What do you think of Ommadawn ? RE: What kind of music is this ? - Jerome - 31-03-2018 I like most of his albums but the one that stands out for me is the one no-one else approves of - The Songs of Distant Earth - a classic musical interpretation of Authur C Clarke's novel. I must say that his latest offering - Return to Ommadawn is worth a listen - the more I hear it the more I like it. Waiting for TB4 to come out. He's supposedly busy putting that together if all the stories are to be believed. His website states that his most ardent fans rate 'Amarok' to be his best work. I simply can't listen to it. And his 'pop song' era with Maggie O'Reilly has some fantastic stuff going on. BTW - for those so inclined, there is a guy called Robert Reed who is clearly influenced by Oldfield but I have not listened to any of his albums in detail yet. Supposed to be very good. On a final note his 'Man on the Rocks' album was a huge disappointment - just did not work for me at all. The first Oldfield album I did not buy and probably never will. It's clever in the sense that he is trying to break new ground with the younger generation, but I am an old fart now and as the saying goes 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks' Woof, woof! RE: What kind of music is this ? - Constance - 27-06-2018 Acid House maybe? Idk if someone answered it already but it reminds me of Vini Vici or Astrix, something that is a hop, skip, and a jump away from Infected Mushroom. Look up Astrix - Deep Jungle Walk, I think there are similarities but different bpms used, actually I think the song u posted could be Trance house. RE: What kind of music is this ? - Jaison Justus - 17-10-2018 I listen to very few electronic music, but based on my observation, especially the song elements and the kick drum at 3:00 make me think this track as Tribal / Psy-Trance.
