What genre does this fit into? - crabby - 28-07-2010 It's so hard to label a band to a certain genre sometimes. Especially nowadays with so many genres, subgenres and sub-subgenres. How would you label Creed? Let me know. Rock and Roll? Alternative? Metal? What genre does this fit into? - jwee5467 - 29-07-2010 Ok, so I probably like to consider myself an expert on Genres (except for like electronic shit), but this is how I view Creed. Rock -> Alternative -> 90s -> Post-Grunge (mainly due to the influence of Pearl Jam) They can also be genred as Hard Rock with some elements of songs similar to some Zepellin riffs. What genre does this fit into? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-07-2010 is there a genre called 'crap'?? LOL What genre does this fit into? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-07-2010 ok, jwee5467, which genre would u put neil young in2??? im a huge fan of the great man and i cant pinpoint him to 1 genre, this is a serious question, not sarcastic, where would neil youngf fit in2 the genres of music...protest,folk,country,pre-grunge/punk,electronic,rock,soul,blues,jazz...he's done it all, most good, some badly,so where does he fit in the scheme of things. is he really the godfather of grunge being as he influenced nirvana, pearljam(even made an album with them, 'mirrorball'),influenced sonic youth, rem, powderfinger to name a few? What genre does this fit into? - jwee5467 - 30-07-2010 So, Neil Young has done a huge range of styles all a lot of the above count. He is the Father of Grunge no doubt, showing huge elements of typical Seattle Grunge acts like Nirvana. However, the majority of his solo tracks really lie under folk/country rock and his Crazy Horse stuff belongs to Hard Rock/Pre-Grunge (which isn't a genre in my books). What genre does this fit into? - Tiggi - 30-07-2010 This can always be a problem. I don't know Creed well enough to venture an opinion, but I've always thought of NY broadly as a Rock musician ?! What genre does this fit into? - CRAZY-HORSE - 31-07-2010 totally agree, they dont do anything for me,i find their music too repetative and lacking substance and fibre, i could be wrong but creed feel to me like they just go through the motions on record. having said that i know people whove seen them live and apparently they do play well live |
