Rank The Genres - Music Head - 25-09-2010

I know we have our poll where we have picked our favorite genre.
I thought this would give a better picture.
I have listed our 10 genres that we have forums for, exactly how they are titled.
Rank them from 1-10 as to your preference.
You can copy the list from this post and then just rearrange them.
I will keep a running point tally as anyone posts.
Feel free to comment on or clarify your ranking, or not.

1) Country, Folk & World Music
.....This ranks first for me because country and folk are my home. What I grew up loving. Joan Baez and Bob Dylan had an impact, as did George Jones and Loretta Lynn. Not into the World or Reggae much.

2) Alternative:- Punk, Post-Punk, Grunge & Indie
.....Have this as my favorite genre on my profile. May have to change that now. Went back to my roots as they say. Anything really new has to come out of this, which is why it ranks high for me.

3) Rock:- Rock & Roll, Classic Rock, & Progressive Rock
.....The format of so much radio, it's hard to not know a lot of stuff here as it's everywhere you turn. Most of this would have been considered pop back when it ruled.

4) Pop, & Dance
.....Hard to define what is Pop as it is indeed what is popular and that changes over time. The Beatles were certainly a popular band, yet I would not like to put them in pop, as they were more than that. Still if you take into account all the rock bands that have been popular, the genre has to rank up there.

5) Soul/R&B & Hip Hop/Rap
.....Don't like most of the current r&b and I don't even think they use the term soul anymore, on new stuff anyway. I do like some hip-hop and rap. Don't know what the difference is, but I like some of both, as long as it doesn't get too crude.

6) Jazz & Blues
.....I'm stuck in the old school when it comes to these. Modern jazz sucks. Don't guess there is a modern blues, but there is and probaby cannot be a modern blues. Blues is blues and cannot be made new again.

7) Classical Music & Opera
.....Excellent for background music for me though as with any genre the appreciation is developed more under them headphones.

8) Hard Rock & Metal
.....Don't mind the old style that falls into this genre such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. It's when this death/doom crap came into the picture that soured me.

9) Electronic Music
.....Took the place of disco. Some good elements of techno sneak into pop now and then, maybe even alt. Overall it just annoys me. I realize most music is repetitive, but this over does it.

10) Film & Stage Music
