Week Forty Two.............Ugur Dariveren .................Solar Crown - gryphon - 20-11-2010

Solar Crown………………..Ugur Dariveren

Just a single track to review here at a member’s request.
Guitar and flat feel drum start this one ……then the guitar takes over….its a metal feel track with a driving rhythm and a strong focus on the lead. In the middle we relax and open up here there is a feel of some of the 70s instrumentals of Focus and a definite Jan Akkerman feel…..After that we are back again onto the lead guitar lead instrumental.
Over all its quite a good track showing guitar style and skill , however, there is nothing that has not been done many times before here…………….In the end I liked it ! :happy:Cool

Week Forty Two.............Ugur Dariveren .................Solar Crown - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-11-2010

youre right Gryphon, its nothing that hasnt been done a million times previously, its also a bit too repeatative for my liking, theres so much more he could have done in 5:19, overall though he certainly knows how to use the fret board and the drumming was very 'meaty', not a bad track but im not one for instrumentals,as a rule so it wont be on my xmas list to Santa.

There's such thing as a music legacy, younger musicians learn on what has been done before to develop their music arsenal so to speak. That said, Ugur has incredible technique and composition skills, and this is obviously the best guitar instrumental composition of the year!

Going to be honest here ................I don't see this as the guitar composition of the year, his technique is good but not excellent and his composition is OK but that is not top notch.

The comments about musical legacy are OK but there no substitute for outright talent which will shine no matter what and this does hot scream that it is head and shoulders above anything else....................it is good but, it does not trail blaze, it has its moments but it is not that original!Cool

Week Forty Two.............Ugur Dariveren .................Solar Crown - Music Head - 22-11-2010

no rock instrumentals for me (Frankenstein excluded).

Maybe you're right, however I don't know then what makes me want to listen this composition again and again, it has something to it. Smile

Furthermore, the feel of originality in music depends on how many different compositions particular listener ever heard, that is if you heard a lot -- nothing is ever original. Music is like a drug. Smile
