Up until now I haven't paid much attention to the xmas no.1 campaign against the X Factor but when John Cage's infamous 4:33 piece came up this year (which I have always been fascinated by), I have to say I was both shocked & very tempted to download it, since I think it would serve as the perfect answer to Simon Cowell and the X Factor's long overdue presence on our screens here in the UK.
Usually, no.1 doesnt really mean anything or have any importance but I think it's different this year. Plus all the money raised is for charity.
Thoughts people?

Yeah there are quite a few others out such as the Pogues 'Fairytale Of New York' to coincide with Kirsty MacColl's 10th anniversary of her tragic death in 2000.

The problem with lots of choice is that the opposition gets diluted, and Cowell's abomination (that's a bit rich, since I haven't even consciously heard it, but I feel I'm probably not far off the mark !!) sneaks in through the back door.

I get your point Tiggi. Usually I don't dabble in these things, its just because I'm such a huge fan of John Cage's piece and I'm glad it is finally being appreciated by the mainstream.
