Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - gryphon - 08-02-2011 Track Listing 1 Taxman 2 Eleanor Rigby 3 I' Only Sleeping 4 Love To You 5 Here, There and Everywhere 6 Yellow Submarine 7 She Said,She Said 8 Good Day Sunshine 9 And Your Bird Can Sing 10 For No One 11 Dr. Robert 12 I Want To Tell You 13 Got To Get You Into My Life 14 Tomorrow Never Knows The Seventh album by the Beatles ! Perhaps the last time that the Beatles would sit together in harmony and work together as a group in a spirit of optimism.Three song writers confident and each with their own interests and directions and yet three people with a common goal. A band who had taken the world by storm , proved that they could perform live and now were ready to take a step backwards and focus on recording. Musically we had a mature band who were pushing the boundaries of the recording world and were able to look at themselves and their lives and write about them in a magical way. Paul is in full romantic mode with "Here There and Everywhere", he tells backhandedly about his experiences with drugs in "Got To Get You Into My Life " George comes into focus with the rocker "Taxman " and shows the Indian influences from his post touring times in "Love To You "...................John is out there in his own worlds........At times he is "Only Sleeping" but, then Tomorrow never knows.....................Ringo is not named as a song writer but has made a strong contribution to many numbers ............... Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-02-2011 agree 100% with this nomination, it is my favourite Beatle album and as Gryphon says: it showcases three great writing talents all with distinctive styles, all taking different aspects of their lives and creating something magical Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - Tiggi - 08-02-2011 This always comes in the first 2 or 3 in those critics' best album ever lists. I don't think it's that good, but I'd certainly back it as a classic. Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - Thraak - 08-02-2011 Personally, most of The Beatles' music doesn't do anything for me but 'Revolver' is a popular album and I guess it would be kind of ignorant not to recognise it in a 'classic albums' thread. What I am hoping to see though is some more obscure albums making it into this thread thus making it more of a reflection of our member's tastes as opposed to a carbon copy of every 'classic album list' out there. Sorry if that sounded arrogant lol Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - Music Head - 09-02-2011 I'll third or fourth this nomination. I see Mr. Souls point but don't think we should not nominate just because an album was popular. Problem with the Beatles of course, is practically every album is worthy of at least nomination. Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-02-2011 every Beatle album should just be included in all 'classic' albums lists, full stop!...afterall it is The Beatles, and personally no one will ever equal their consistancy of quality Nomination One..........Revolver.........The Beatles........1966 - Thraak - 11-02-2011 They pretty much already are CH. All the lists I've seen usually have at least 3 or 4 Beatles albums within the top ten alone. |
