At the moment I find myself going back through my collection and re listening to quite a few things

There is a quote which I like ............." A library is pointless unless it is in use "

So to this end I'm re-listening to

The Beatles ..............The White Album " ( The remastered Stereo Edition )

I'm always amazed when re-listening how much you find that you had missed before..................The timber of a set of instruments on a particular track......the odd background comment that becomes clearer...................A lyric which suddenly clicks into place or another meaning to a track.

I hope we can construct a thread here and share a few re-listening experiences........:nod::nod: Cool

This weekend I have Blood, Sweat & Tears second album titled Blood Sweat & Tears - featuring Spinning Wheel & You Make Me So Very Happy - fabulous sound. Lots of horn section features. Big sound, more B,S&T on the horizon for me!

I dug out Flora Purim...brilliant Latin jazz singer from 30 yers ago (where does the time go ????) as well as Steely Dan's Gaucho album and about to unleash The Specials self titled !!!!!

George's work was very under rated as the seventies leaves turned to brown.............He was an ex Beatle,who rejected punk ad instead was true to himself and his beliefs. The albums he produced at this time were gentle and melodic and did much to establish in his own mind the idea that music was what counted and sales were unimportant.

The collection of songs here include his excellent cover of True Love and his self mocking Crackerbox Palace...........and his tribute Pure Smoky.................It's nice stuff and great to revisit! Cool

i have this one on the old cassette format Gryphon, thus havent played it for a while...pretty sure i liked it last time i heard it, and maybe i should revisit it soon???
always found George to shy away from the commercialism of Macca's solo material...until "cloud nine" and then "brainwashed", but nevertheless a musical Genius in his own right IMO,shame he was always in the shadows of 'the other two' though.

found myself revisiting this piece of rock "perfection" on my ipod today, i still cannot find anything to ay it is less than perfect in any way.

an album injected with alcohol drenched vocals,lyrics dripping with subject matter of drugs, alcohol, suicide and drug overdoses......
its not your typical "harvest" album by any means so dont expect it to be "harvest mk II".

this is Neil's greatest 40 odd minutes of recorded music IMO!

A first album of a soon to be super group is an interesting little artefact.............This one is a gem..............produced by Jonathan King , the album shows a band searching for a direction. At times they do find it and the later sound and style is clear and definite..........but what makes this an excellent listen: are the stations they have to pass through on the journey...................At one point they sound like a psychedelic version of The Bee Gees ant another they have a beatlesque feel................even the song writing style is interesting and at times they use a beautiful and naive style that re-appears in later works ................Definitely work another visit! Cool

I received this as an eighteenth birthday present and listening to it some 30+ years later , this album has lost non of it's impact. It was perhaps the last vestiges of the progressive band Yes and the beginning of the more pop orientated band.

Originally there were just five tracks on the album and each one shows a strength of the band.

Wondrous stories show that they could blend lyrics and rock to provide a minor chart hit.
Turn Of The Century The story here and the story telling is one of the best any Yes album
Parallels Shows they can still rock!
Going For The One Five minds blend into one great lead track
Awaken Gifted musicians working together to form a great sound

This album s well worth digging out and re-evaluating! Cool

BRANDI CARLILE - The Story

Saw this fabulous American singer songwriter on the Letterman show some five or six years ago and I had to go out and get this album !
Brandi is from small town Washington state and has collaborated with her gal pal Shawn Colvin.

Her brand of folk rock is fresh and original as well as her vocal. I have my eye on the live album she released last June with the Seattle Symphony where she sings Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah !

At only 30 years of age, Brandi has a bright and prosperous music career ahead of her, I'm sure.
