Actually, Paul McCartney cites Zappa as his influence for the Sgt Pepper album, and in turn Zappa made "We're only in it for the Money" album as a direct parody of the Beatles. He was actually quite critical of the Beatles, and was on bad terms with John Lennon after they recorded a few songs together... you have to look up that one.

Interesting ,,,what Zappa/Lennon collaborations can I get ?...also who in your estimation was a significant influence on Zappa or was he his own self made musical genius ?

Well when it comes to his influences, that man could only answer for himself. He often cites old R&B albums and blues like Muddy Waters as well as some experimental composers of the time. But you could also say every musician has a little bit of their own self made musical genius.

Right you are ! As for Zappa and Lennon I guess the only record would be the 1971 Fillmore East concert / To tell you the truth I had no idea they ever crossed paths...dah :redface:
It appears that he was into obscure music right off the get go...listening to Varese and other avant garde artists

The Beatle whose connection comes most to mind is Ringo..................He did star in 2000 motels as Zappa and although he does not show obvious link might well have been the channel for Zappa flow into Beatle circles.

Really?????...no surprise, he was somewhat negative regarding the Beatles("I don't believe in Beatles" from the song God)...a little jealously over Paul's huge success with Wings, I presume. I personally would never equate ELO (a great band by the way) with the Fab Four.
For me Oasis was the band that mirrored The Beatles ...and look how successful they were!!!!!
