Nomination: Miles Davis - Tiggi - 15-02-2012 Genre: Jazz. Davis was at or near the cutting edge of Jazz between the 40's and, say, 1970, with his career continuing for another couple of decades. Bop, Cool Jazz, and Fusion were all styles in which he played a key part, along with his modal experiments, and the stack of classic albums he made leave most other Jazzers in the shade. A willingness to evolve makes him one of the foremost Jazz players, and his influence has been huge. Nomination: Miles Davis - evilB - 16-02-2012 I whole-heartedly support your nomination! Every decade Miles redefined himself and the jazz world was never the same. Cool Bop/ Modal Blues/ Fusion... thank-you Miles. Nomination: Miles Davis - mtthwibrahim - 17-02-2012 I wouldn't say he the most influential. He always seemed like the forerunner of the likes of Mingus, Dolphy Coltrane, Ayler, etc Noneless, he was still an excellent musician and composer, so a vote from me. I really really like "On the Corner"; he was best when he got funky |
