Note: this description is awful and pretentious, do not put any weight into it

It'd be hard to imagine the direction classical would have gone in were it not for Starvinsky. The man asn't at all concerned with conventions and tossed the "rulebook" of music aside to do whatever the hell he pleased. His compositions were so ahead of their time, in fact, that when his "Le Sacre du Printmeps" debuted for the first time in 1913, it incited a riot. A freakin riot! Has any other musician been able to do that

Even today, after seeing the likes of Feldman, Cage, Penderecki, etc, his compositions are still as brilliant and evocative as they were back in 1913. Stravinsky was a rare breed; a visionary

Igor Stravinsky definitely gets my vote !

One of his (many) famous quotes - 'Harpists spend 90% of their lives tuning their harps and 10% playing out of tune'.

Is that a YES?

Nomination: Igor Stravisnky - Jerome - 17-02-2012

Without a shadow of a doubt - a master.

By the way the description is neither awful nor pretentious - it's fact.

A vote for Igor from me too.

Nomination: Igor Stravisnky - Wheel - 09-06-2012

He composed such a range of music, I have the 22 CD box-set of him conducting his own work and the range is astonishing, from very modern in 1912 - still so today! to neo-classicism, to serialism, song, opera, small pieces - etc. What is best is that he mastered them all.

Nomination: Igor Stravisnky - SteveO - 09-06-2012

so having said that Wheel, is that a Yes vote?...how about the other nominees????? votes for them also?

Any members out there have Hall of Fame nominees or votes for the ones that are nominated so far?????

Thanks Wheel. I'll make the necessary changes in the Hall of Fame thread. I think Igor needs a few more to be inducted.
