similar sounding song, right? Indie Pop song with catchy chorus..it even has whistling! Catchier whistling, even!
Yet Pumped Up Kicks made it to number THREE on the Hot 100
And according to this :

it made to #12 on 'Bubbling Under Hot 100', which is considerably less than Pumped Up Kicks
was Pumped Up Kicks just at the right place at the right time (in other words, was indie pop not as popular in 2006)?

think its simply a case of "being in the right place at the right time" or "wrong place at the wrong time"....
and it goes way back to 1953 when a young Elvis Presley did a demo at Sun Records...had the receptionist on duty not played the cut to Sam Phillips when he returned from lunch that day, he may never have heard Elvis...
had The Beatles listened to record company executives when they told them that "guitar based rock was on the wane", then they would not have made it.
had I not brought to the attention of members here about Gotye, then he would not have had such a huge hit under his belt now.....er, maybe not....LOL

I randomly heard Pumped Up Kicks before I heard this one. Maybe Foster the People just got more play from the start.
