Billboard 100 Lists - Green - 01-07-2012

Billboard publishes the Hot 100 list every week.

Over a year's time, there must be several hundreds of songs that appear on that list.

At the end of each year, Billboard publish an annual Hot 100-which is easy to find.

But how can I find a compilation list of every song that hit the weekly charts for a given year?

Put another way, I don't want the weekly list as it contains duplicates, but rather I want a list of every song to appear on any of the weekly lists yet I want such song listed only once.

Any ideas where to find this information?

Thanks

i guess the best way to find ALL the chart entries and their positions on the charts is to puchase the Joel Whitburn "billboards" books from amazon.com, generally speaking you can purchase them in books that are dedicated decade annuals like the one below:

i only have the one that details ALL top40 entries from 1955-1982, but since the charts have now been extended as a top100 chart i would assume the books incorporate the entire top100.
the book i have is well laid out whereby you can either search for songs either by searching for the artist or the song you require

Does the book you have list the top 40 week by week--such that a given song could appear in the chart for, say, 6 successive charts? Or is it laid out some other way so that a given song appears only once for the year it charted?
Or both?

no, they dont give you a week by week list moreso:

under each artists discography it gives when it was released, the soing name, highest chart placing and amount of weeks on the charts, my book also gives whether it went gold or platinum as the case may be
my book also gives a year by year description of the top 20 biggest selling songs of each particular year, a list of all the #1 hits during the period and lots of other trivia like:
artists with the most chart entries
artists with most top 10/#1 hits
label with most hits
writers who wrote most hits etc etc....

pretty complete books IMO
