Searching for Sugar Man is a documentary chronicling the career of the amazing Sixto Rodriguez! The doc is nominated for best documentary in tonight's Oscars!...only caught a snippet of what the reporter said....Sixto now 70 years old is still performing! He recently sold out a concert in Cape Town, South Africa(last Friday night)!...lives with his daughter in Michigan???? I think. He gives all his money away..a very spiritual, humble and generous man!

"cold fact" is a brilliant album, his follow up album wasnt quite as good, the "searching for sugarman" soundtrack which is a compilation of both albums is also superb...
and cant wait to see the doco(or buy it when released on bluray/dvd)
very underrated artist IMO and obviously Jerome's opinion also, but at least both he and I can say South Africa and Australia got on board back in the day!!!!!

I am so pleased to announce that the documentary Searching for Sugar Man has just won the Academy Award for best documentary!!!!!....Maybe now more people will discover Sixto! The writers/producer of the doc accepted the Oscar and remarked that Sixto was not present because he believed that the people who produced the documentary should get credit and not himself!!!!!!

A couple of my old classmates went to see him on Friday. Apparently everyone has been scrambling for tickets. He was the icon of our youth.
