Dragonforce: kings of power-metal or just fast and repetitive? - Ace - 06-11-2008 Hey all, sorry if this has already been posted before. So... is anyone here into the 'Force? Frankly, they're one of my favourite bands. I believe they've outdone themselves yet again with the release of Ultra Beatdown, and they've become the finest power-metal band I've listened to. It's not just about playing ridiculously fast - it's about the unity of the relentless drumming, the keys, and ZP's freakin' epic vocals. So, what do you guys think? Great band, average, or just fast and uncreative? Also, if you like them: what songs/albums? I prefer their newer stuff (i.e. Inhuman Rampage and UB), and my favourite songs would be The Flame of Youth and Heartbreak Armageddon from those albums respectively. Thoughts? Dragonforce: kings of power-metal or just fast and repetitive? - Iota - 06-11-2008 Useless pop-punkish metalcore. Ace Wrote:with the release of Ultra Beatdown More like Ultra Letdown, eh? Dragonforce: kings of power-metal or just fast and repetitive? - Iota - 06-11-2008 Okay. Their technical abilities are acceptable. Dragonforce: kings of power-metal or just fast and repetitive? - Conrad - 13-04-2009 I must say, you can find any band boring and repetitive if you're not into them, personally I do like Dragonforce, not my favourite band, but I like them. People say "well they can't be that talented, they can barely play their stuff at live shows, that means they're fake." - Right, two things: 1.) I'm sure many of the people that hear this, just say it again, and haven't actually heard Dragonforce live, they just haven't got anything on them, so they decide to pass on "hear-say" 2.) Even if they can't play it live (I don't know I won't be seeing them live until download this year) that shows that their own music is so talented, they struggle to play it on the spot Dragonforce: kings of power-metal or just fast and repetitive? - Iota - 14-04-2009 Conrad Wrote:2.) The fact that they've recorded the song, means that they've done it at some point. Dragonforce: kings of power-metal or just fast and repetitive? - JonG - 15-04-2009 Conrad Wrote:2.) I don't know about "in a long time" but I agree. Sometimes a band can't reproduce live what they did in a studio. But it's not due to their music being "so talented". It's that they used some studio wizardry to get the results they wanted. Then they purposely play different versions of the songs when they perform live. |
