Early on in her career, Nicole Kidman - who is an American, by the way - appreared in an Australian film called Emerald City. There's no action in it, but it's a nice little comedy film.

I have seen interesting adverts for this new TV series called 'Jericho' about life after a nuclear war. Looks like it would be worth watching
