Janis Joplin stamp
#1
Just to show there's no end to US Postal Service pandering, in August, they are going to issue a JJ stamp (this follows the Jimi Hendrix stamp earlier year, and Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and Lydia Mendoza q.v.--no word yet on a Kurt Cobain emission). Here's more and a pic:
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/j...d-20140630 Here's how to order: https://store.usps.com/store/browse/cate...buy-stamps If you really want to step up your "Memorializing the Mutts" game, how about a decorated First Day Cover? Here's 3 cachet makers (none have announced designs yet but they will): http://www.colorano.com/ and https://www.washpress.com/artcraft.jsp and http://www.firstdaycoversonline.com/serv...Categories << this company has all major lines for sale. Then there's this: http://www.chriscallefdc.com/chriscallefdc/Home.html

The USPS puts out these kind of issues knowing full well that most of them won't be used to carry mail, resulting in a 90+% profit. I'd be more cynical if that profit didn't help fund my pension...It can be harder finding a good used copy of these emissions than mint.
