I have never liked the band U2 but in fairness to those that do, I'm linking this article by a respected NY Times critic on their next tour:

im no fan neither Jazz....
i must have liked them in the 1980s because i have "boy","october","war","joshua tree","under a blood red sky" on cassette....listened to them a while ago and hated almost every track on every album...
i think "rattle and hum" would be the only album of theirs i still truely like/love...its soulful, bluesy, a good solid mix of un-U2 sounding songs includes a cover of Beatles "helter skelter" and several other covers also and a superb duet with BB King called "when love comes to town"

U2 are an exciting live band!,,,this is where it counts for me! No comparison listening to an AC/DC album and seeing them in living sound and colour! Same goes for U2. I think they made the most money recently in their 360 World Tour.

Not Bono - the Edge. Their stage design is a direct rip-off of Peter Gabriel's 'Secret World' tour. As far as their albums are concerned I think The Joshua Tree is a classic. Also like Rattle and Hum. All their other albums are mediocre at best.
