I'm quite shy of admitting my fondness for early pop records to people of my own generation. I often listen to the American Graffiti soundtrack, have been listening to a lot of the early Phil Spector hits this evening and just discovered this Skeeter Davis song from 1963.

[COLOR=#000000][FONT=ProximaNova-Regular]If I had to choose a period where pop music was at it's best I think I would go for 1960-65. But how many people born after 1970 would agree?

I don't know how old you are but there is nothing to be shy of in this matter

mile:. I have met lot of young people (from college age and up) who are listening to oldie stuff. F.ex Dalida,Del Shannon, Everly Brothers etc. I believe that the younger generation is curious to know about music that they are not used to hear.

Welcome to you both, dinhhuong and Frands, to the Great MD! As for young people enjoying old pop standards...who can blame them! Great melodies and song writing back in the day!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

my young friends, keep listening to the oldies, and you'll learn much about music history.
