The best one I can think of right now - from Brian Eno's 'Apollo - Atmospheres and Soundtracks' album.

Do you like this sort of music? I do.

Here's an album by a Polish group called How To Disappear Completely, according to themselves a name taken from the title of a book on how to start a new identity. "Mer de Revs":

I initially liked this. I thought - 'here's the new Brian Eno' But then I got bored because it did not change. Ambient music is fine with me, but it has to lead you on a journey. It has to take you somewhere. It has to have subtle changes and variations and move beyond the basic idea.

I agree in part and disagree in part. I'm not a genre lover, because there's only little material from any genre that I really like. There is no forumula for a good tune. It has to move you to be be precious.

But slow synthesizer music built on sounds that tremble and shiver on their own and have their own pulse doesn't need much change or variation. Variation has its own predictability and boredom. A piece or two of Eno's music does sometimes strike me as enjoyable, but overall I find his works to be tedious and far too arty to be enjoyable. They do not move me. They have the same dry, witty and shallow quality that is typical of too much of the fine arts.

You are right in saying that Eno's work can sometimes be arty/farty - I have all his albums but I probably only listen to 2 or 3. He has a made a business of creating pretentious nonsense and the general public are in awe of him when in actual fact they could probably do better themselves with an electric triangle. Still he has made some stunning music - but certainly not his last 6 or 7 releases. Those are complete rubbish. He needs to get back to making music instead of overrated art installations. I was in Lisbon a while back and this 'artist' had all these bits of twigs and wood and shit strewn around a large hall. This was supposed to be art. To me it was just a bunch of twigs and wood strewn around a large hall. Maybe i'm just fucking dumb but I thought it was complete crap.

In my opinion this is what true art looks like - no musician living or dead has even come close to what this man did - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Vermeer

Vermeer...superb artist, his paintings are so good that they look like digital photographs!
