Sirenia "dim days of dolor"
Spotify listen:
Nordic metal band....
quite of bit of chanting in most songs,
I sort of envision the Vikings doing it as they set sail
in their Longboats to rape and pillage another country...
almost operatic vocals from the female vocalist, sort
of like Evenescence on steroids...
orchestral in places also...
heard lots of this kind of thing over the last year and a half,
not a bad thing and not a bad album but its getting a tad old hat now for me...
from the album: (the title track and lead off single)

When a band is pigeonholed into a specific genre or type of music (you don't like the word Genre, Crazy mate) you are quite right....they all sound similar as time goes on. Must be a spectacular experience to attend a concert by them and the other top notch symphonic metal bands with their gorgeous opera trained female vocalists!

I am most definitely not a fan of metal - symphonic or not, but I do like this particular track from Mr. Gilmour -

From his second solo album (his best as well IMO) - 'About Face'.
