There is god of music after all - thanks Apollo, for hanging in there! This is the third in Aaron Parks & Co's Little Big series, both of which I've spoken about before. Number three does not disappoint! Very loose, contemporary jazz, smartly produced, beautifully played - Parks is a brilliant pianist and his companions do more than justice to their ends as well. Gorgeous guitar and bass, and tasty drums and percussion courtesy of Greg Tuohey, David Ginyard Jr and Jongkuk Kim in that order. When I say loose, I mean as opposed to uptight. It may be jazz but there's something to hang ones hat on here, in terms of melody and structure. Well my hat at least! Super classy, IMHO. Nothing beats real music.
The unlikely titled "Sports" was a fave - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMnTHLMK9n0, as was "Delusions" - some weird minor harmonics or something going on here but it's oddly compelling ... could definitely acquire this - all three albums are a worthwhile collection methinks ...
... and another one for the helluvit ... "Heart Stories"
