US HOT 100 Summary & Review 7.01.25 #15

TOP TEN:

'Taste' tastes what it's like to be at 10! 'Espresso' has a caffeine-like boost to 9, while Post 'Had Some Help' with Morgan is at 8. Kendrick and SZA jump to 7 with 'Luther' as Gracie Abrams repeaks at 6 with 'That's So True' at 5. ROSÉ and Bruno's 'APT.'  Lands a new peak. Re-entering at 4 is 'Lose Control,' which gives Teddy his 72nd charting week! 'Birds Of A Feather' is up 25 spots to three, and 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' is up 22 spots to two! But gaining the number one for the first time is 'Die With A Smile,' adding to Gaga and Mars's collection of previous number ones!

NEW ENTRIES:

100 - Cowboy Songs - George Birge (5/10)

Well, it's American country fit for American country radio with a guitar rock segment fitted into a country swing, but all this country just isn't for me. I am shocked how this was released 9 months ago and didn't get enough reaction to Chart until now, but either way, this is mediocre; it sounds like any typical country music you'll have put on in the US. This ain't becoming a big hit anytime soon or, in fact, ever.

94 - End Of The Earth - Ty Myers (2/10)

BOOOOOOOORRRING!! What happened to 16-year-olds in 2024?? Have they all become this dull? I guarantee if this is played nonstop in a prison, a riot will start. It's slow but not catchy. I'm psychically hoping the song will end; this country crap is such a downer on the mood. Someone said that he mastered TikTok with this... this isn't TikTok music; it's retirement music.

Note: I know how unprofessional the review is, but it's so boring and bad that I'm snoozing writing it. I need a mood booster so bad.

91 - Pitorro De Coco - Bad Bunny (5/10)

Previous first listen:

I mean, it’s alright. It has Bunny's usual sound, with the guitar fitting in nicely alongside his Myke Towers-like voice merging into it. The problem for me is that it feels way too boring and just doesn’t have that earworm sound that makes a track replayable. Nothing special.

87 - Nadie - Tito Double P (5/10)

Bringing up feelings of heartbreak, 'Nadie' uses the traditional Mexican trumpets and production to incorporate his emotions. I mean, he really didn't go any extra to make this track special, and the production doesn't bring across the mood as well as I would like it to, but it still works.

75 - Boys Back Home - Dylan Marlowe/Dylan Scott (6/10)

Well... it's been a long time since I've listened to this. I first listened when it was on Yung Gravy's 'Serving Country' album and had him on, but now the version without him has entered. Originally released on December 4th, 2023, the country track has a more radio-friendly country blend and is actually pretty good. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but it's something that brings in American country roots well.
50 - Loco - Neton Vega (5.5/10)

This proves that foreign music is impacting the Hot 100 chart now more than ever, with Neton set to release his debut album and 'Loco' going top 50. This is huge. Sadly for me, I'm not all in on this movement; it's not that the song is bad; it's just that the genre itself just hasn't been good to my ears and feels flat-out boring. He doesn't give any energy on this, and the only thing partly unique is the creation of the beat, which is not memorable.

27 - Smile - Morgan Wallen (6.5/10)

Previous listen:

Showcasing a lighter, more acoustic side of Morgan, Smile gets the emotions across extremely well and highlights another side of Wallen that sounds like it would connect with fans. It maintains the quality of country-pop, and if this marks a new era for Wallen, then I’m all for it!
