UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 10.01.25 #15
THE TOP TEN:
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande continue 'Defying Gravity' with their sales gain at 10; 'Bad Dreams' sees Teddy have a sales fall to 9, while 'Die With A Smile' still isn't dying at 8. Teddy's 'The Door' gains slightly on sales but slips to 7, and 'The Days' by Chrystal also gains but still slips. Taking a phenomenal climb from 64 to 5 is 'Who' by Jimin; no idea why! Gigi's 'Sailor Song' sails in the sales categories, and Lola Young's 'Messy' also gains but stays at 3. At 2 ROSÉ and Bruno continue closing the gap on that number one but are still behind, and taking number one for a 7th week is 'That's So True' by Gracie Abrams, which actually climbs by 3,000 on sales, making the gap between 1 and 2 6,000 sales.
NEW ENTRIES:
99- Seasons - Sam Austin (9/10)
This NEEDS to blow up, an experimental blend that is a sound that's unheard from me and rarely has anything enter the chart that has this kind of creativity! He really unleashed a full world full of talent on this and turned dance pop into dance bop! This doesn't only redefine the genre's layers but also adds a new meaning of dancing the pain away and showcases this in a song that sure will bring in all the flowers!
91 - Beanie - Chezile (7/10)
This is some really unique indie dream pop and once again is another experimental yet creative song. This did go TikTok viral, but I'm not going to let that influence my opinions of it, especially after seeing so many cringe videos with each song that went viral there. I think the lyrics are symbolised so well in the vocals and told well by the producers; it's definitely a real hit that deserves more than being in a TikTok.
89 - The Perfect Pair - Beabadoobee (7.5/10)
Putting heartbreaking or hard situations into gentle, calming songs is one great move, but then making this whole thing experimental with every second feeling like paradise! That's truly spectacular; the guitars in this are a highlight, with the whole beat just forming perfectly. Love you, Bea!
82 - Stuff - Lil Baby/Travis Scott (4/10)
It's autotuned, flex crap r*p, and nothing else. I don't even think I have to say more, apart from the fact that the song choices are so basic; everything about this was copy and paste from any rap cr*p.
52 - Smile - Morgan Wallen (6.5/10)
Previous first listen:
Showcasing a lighter, more acoustic side of Morgan, Smile gets the emotions across extremely well and highlights another side of Wallen that sounds like it would connect with fans. It maintains the quality of country-pop, and if this marks a new era for Wallen, then I’m all for it!
48 - Constellations - Jade Lemac (8/10)
This could seriously be the next big thing or a highlight of 2025, and I also think Sia would do a killer cover of this! It has a beat made for pop radio with a smooth, lighter shine that makes the flow sound a bit nostalgic... like something you would hear back in the 2000s/2010s! I'm expecting a huge rise for this in the coming weeks; it's excellent!!
46 - Dum Dumb and Dumber - Lil Baby/Young Thug/Future (8/10)
Previous first listen:
This has the flow of a hit rap song and brings in every rapper. I truly feel the vibe on this and think it has big potential. As someone who's not the biggest rap fan, I can confidently say this is amazing. The beats have more elements than your usual and feel like they went all out on this. It’s also quite autotuned, which is a huge change, and I actually like something of that nature!
39 - Denial Is A River - Doechi (9/10)
Sooooo.. I just watched a 10-minute Genius video on this song, and the story's really interesting: how she balances humour into really serious parts of her life and makes them into an entertaining sitcom-style song that sounds like nothing else! It's not only that but also heavily thought behind it, and each bar has personality rushing through it, what a rap song should be!
REENTRIES:
98 - We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love) - Ariana Grande
[No other song can make me feel like this one does—in a good way.]
32 - La La La - Naughty Boy/Sam Smith
Listening back to this is so sad... I wish the old times when Sam Smith wasn't a crazy man would come back.
22 - Pink Pony Club - Chappell Roan
[Oh great ?]
