Did a websearch over the weekend for a favourite UK cult band by the name of The Enid, and found that they're back in business. Thought I'd post something in case anyone might be interested.
The Enid were formed some 35 years ago, and have undergone a few line-up changes, but have always been based around the Classically trained keyboard maestro Robert Godfrey, who did orchestral arrangements for Barclay James Harvest in the late '60s.
They play a hybrid of Classical & Rock music (but definitely not Prog), much of which is instrumental, although vocals have latterly crept in. In the early '80s I saw them live many times, and they had a small but fanatical following. Following some bad experiences at the hands of major labels, they've been defiantly independant for many years now, and probably haven't ever made much money from their music-making.
Anyway, they've recently obtained the stereo masters for their first two albums from EMI, and have released the original versions on CD, and have also released a new album on CD. I've ordered a copy of each from the band website, so watch out for related postings. Their first, In The Region of The Summer Stars is a big favourite of mine.
Mrs Tiggi & I also have tickets for a fairly local live show to us which is scheduled for a few weeks' time.
