THE AVETT BROTHERS - The Carpenter (September 2012)





This is the sixth studio album from the boys of Concord, North Carolina and in my opinion a very good one !

Their brand of country rock is infectious and easy to digest. Lots of nice acoustic guitar and bass with smatterings of fiddles and banjos and the occasional trumpet ! The band is very tight with orchestral, organ and piano passages on here also.There's even a wild feedback guitar intro to Paul Newman versus the Demons !

And the vocals are sublime, with brothers Scott and Seth Avett sharing lead and background duties. Very good blend of love ballads, uptempo rock and original melodies with gorgeous harmonies !

I can't wait for their next release !

i have one of their albums...i like it a lot, not sure i'd buy another one though, not sure why....

They really are. I especially love when they do I Killed Sally's Lover. So much energy with these guys.
