English folk musician Dave Swarbrick died yesterday, aged 75. RIP.
He was the longstanding fiddle/mandolin player for, and at one stage, leader of Fairport Convention. This is some of what Wiki has to say about him â âHe has been described by Ashley Hutchings as 'the most influential [British] fiddle player bar none' and his style has been copied or developed by almost every British, and many world folk violin players who have followed him. He was one of the most highly regarded musicians produced by the second British folk revival, contributing to some of the most important groups and projects of the 1960s, and he became a much sought-after session musician, which has led him throughout his career to work with many of the major figures in folk and folk rock music.â
And an obit from the Guardian which is quite comprehensive - https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/j...k-obituary
This is from pre FC days and is on the album, Rags, Reels & Airs which he made with Martin Carthy and Diz Disley â¦
