Hello everybody. I haven't posted on here in quite awhile. Well I am desperately seeking all kinds of new music so I am posting a thread in each genre asking for your recommendations! I know very little about these genres and I am afraid to tell you what I even like from these genres because I will sound very amateur. But please give me your best Soul, R and B, and Hip-Hop suggestions. Thank You!
Sometimes I lay under the moon and thank God I'm breathing.
And I pray "Don't take me soon "cause I am here for a reason"
Sometimes in my tears drown but I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds, I know someday, it'll all turn around.

i am offended by your " i will sound amatuer" comments mate.....music is a personal choice, so each to their own IMO
look, im not really into hip hop so i cant help you there(but i do own some cds from that genre)
not really into modern r+b or soul, much prefer the classics like:
Wilson Pickett
Otis Redding
Marvin Gaye
1960s/70s Motown
but Gin Wigmore from New Zealand is a pretty good singer, much in the vein of Amy Winehouse, i like her "gravel and wine" cd a lot
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

I am actually very familiar with the era of soul or motown. Never Heard of Gin Wigmore though thank you for that! Also I know some Amy Winehouse but never had any suggestions to go off so thank you for that album I am very interested

Some good new(ish) R&B; Solomon Burke, Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Robert Randolph, Ryan Shaw and Raphael Saadiq. I don't waste any time with hip-hop.
