my thoughts on Bon:

im not as big a fan of the Scott years as i am the Brian Johnson years, but i gotta admit Bon lived and breathed rock and roll to its fullest...
he was the whole stereotypical image of what r+r was rolled into one body(like Keith Richards)...sex,drugs,r+r and problems with 'the law', both lived fast, but
Scott died young!

my thoughts on John:

his vocals arent as deep as Tom Jones' vocal tone, but like Tom he can hit every note god gave to him
infact, both Tom and Engelburt call Farnham the 'greatest singer' they have ever heard, and frankly i agree with them.
he can single simple crap like 'raindrops keep fallin in my head' or pure rock ballads, even rock and roll.

Not surprised actually with Scott...thought he MAY be there then again would Brian Johnson be there instead> When you said I would be familiar then the ACDC thing kicked in! They had to be there! Such a dynamic band!...as for the numero uno choice, John Farnham, only heard of him in name shamefully....!!!!

Listened to the tracks and my impression is that he is the quintessential power ballad singer! A very good choice indeed!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

John Farnham has,IMO, made a lot of stupid records over the last forty-five years but his voice makes them likeable., that said, i think he has also made alot of great singles.

i even think that he covered AC/DC's "its a long way to the top" in concert and also Cold Chisel's "when the war is over" live also, obviously they wont have the same effect as the originals but im sure he'd have done a good job with both.

he has toured here on three or four accasions with Tom Jones also...doing a duets tour doing eachothers songs...
pretty sure he is doing a duets tour with Lionel Ritchie sometime this year.

MH has been given a Farnham best of set by me...he hasnt played it yet, but im sure he'll like it enough to score around 2.1-2.2 when he does.

I see why you're high on this guy, Jon Stevens, C-H. A very credible BES singer (but do seek out the originals): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UM05yLZHFw

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:my thoughts on MH...(no not our Music Head,im talking 'bout Hutchence!)
i was never a fan of these guys, not sure why,i just wasnt???
they did however become the biggest stadium rockers in the world in the mid to late 1980s and probably had a few of the most easily recognisable singles in that period also.
i saw these guys live as support act for either Elton or Rod back in the very early 1980s when they only had a solitary single release...i thought they sucked bigtime live, and the reputation they had was one of either being "sublime" live or at the other extreme "the worst band in living history"...there was no inbetween with these guys!
his position on this list at #4 is probably justified and not unexpected IMO
below is my favoruite track of theirs...

As you mentioned, "in excess" can go either way--they evidently lived up to their name
