Considering how wonderful 2013's Memphis was, I have high expectations for this newest: Boz Scaggs A Fool to Care. A review of Memphis: http://www.allmusic.com/album/memphis-mw0002484784 << Not putting down his mid-'80's and later work but it's sure glad to have him back home. A Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boz_Scaggs His Site: http://www.bozscaggs.com/ His discog goes for days: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/boz-scagg...iscography << For a comp of his best pre-'04 work, get his Greatest Hits Live CD/DVD package: http://www.allmusic.com/album/greatest-h...0000713874 << A popular item; the Usual Suspect's got it for >$20...but not much less.
Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTFvAvsHC_Y << You have to start with this one << Brilliant playing by Duane Allman and the best of Muscle Shoals, fully invested.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyIt3atHEjQ << NOT "Georgia on My Mind"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3og8YojnybY << Do my hipster creds go right out the window in admitting how much I love this?...practiced a lot of dance moves to it, you betcha...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIu0jQ5TaRQ << This opening comes right from Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAN8LnK960o << signature piece on his new CD--could you ask for better big-band backing?
BONUS: This shows that "modest", "unassuming" and "laidback/underplayed" don't decry "powerful" and "deeply affecting": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQyqq1mKDSU
BONUS X: a special take on this song from Darryl Hall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igkyajvrm-8 << I didn't know who Chromeo was, but got respect for him now.
BTW, he and Ricky Skaggs are no kin...except under the musical skin--eclecticists.

A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson
