Dream or electronic pop covers of "Boys of Summer"?

Recently I bought FM-84's Los Angeles EP which is one great album, I have to say, and my favorite track is the opening track, "Delorean". 

I think it is the drum pattern of Delorean that keeps reminding me of Don Henley's Boys of Summer, and maybe even the harmonies. 

Is there a good dream pop version of Boys of Summer? I have searched to find it among the many covers that there are out there. I know that DJ Sammy made a cover, and it's not bad, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. Electronic pop or dream pop should be perfect... FM-84 should do it! 

Closest match I could find was a synth pop take by Zynic, from Nürnberg, sounding a lot like the Dutch synth act Laser Dance and leaning towards melancholic synth pop. 


Do you know any others... Pop? 

(And if you don't then maybe you know other acts that made Delorean-like music?)

Summer of '69 should also have its retrowave, synthwave, dream pop or whatever-it's-called covers? That original was Bryan Adams, I think.

Listening to the track "Days of Thunder" by The Midnight today I noticed that it bears close similarities to Boys of Summer.

I tend to discover great music some time after the first hype, and these retro-acts that sound like the 80's but better have now struck me after years of taking notice without buying anything.

Another one that I like is The Northern Lights, and ironically it was "The Lost Mixtape" that I couldn't resist buying.
